The McPlant is the first plant-based burger from McDonald's. It features a proprietary meat-alternative burger patty that was co-developed with Beyond Meat. The main sources of protein in the McPlant burger patty is pea protein and rice protein. While the McPlant burger patty is vegan, the burger comes topped with non-vegan cheese and mayonnaise (which can be omitted by request) and is cooked on a griddle that is also used to cook beef.
Currently there are only eight McDonald's locations serving the McPlant (Irving and Carrollton, Texas, Cedar Falls, Iowa, Jennings and Lake Charles, Louisiana and El Segundo and Manhattan Beach, California), with a nationwide rollout expected to follow shortly.
